Red Card Doesn't Derail Uruguay
Uruguay faced an uphill battle when Nahitan Nandez received a red card following a VAR review for a reckless tackle. Despite being down a man, Uruguay’s resolute defense held firm, forcing the match to a penalty shootout.
Penalty Heroics Secure the Win
The shootout proved to be Uruguay’s night. Sergio Rochet made a crucial save from Brazil’s Éder Militão, while Douglas Luiz struck the post with his attempt. Uruguay converted all but one of their penalties, with the winning spot-kick coolly slotted home by Manuel Ugarte.
