Michigan orders five Offshore Gambling Sites to cease operations for violating state laws, warning of legal action if they fail to comply.
Michigan Cracks Down on Five Offshore Gambling Sites

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken firm action against five offshore gambling operators, ordering them to cease operations in the state. These unregulated platforms, which offered a variety of casino games and sports betting, were found to be in violation of Michigan’s gambling laws.

Offshore Operators Ordered to Stop Activities

The MGCB issued cease-and-desist letters to the following five operators:

  • BetWhale Casino – Curaçao
  • Black Lotus Casino (owned by TD Investments) – Belize
  • Coins Game Casino – Curaçao
  • Love2Play Casino – Curaçao and Costa Rica
  • Orion Stars 777 Players – Sichuan Province, China

These sites offered popular games like slots, poker, blackjack, Keno, and bingo, as well as sports betting. They accepted various payment methods, including credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrency, but imposed strict withdrawal conditions. Players often had to wager their deposits multiple times before being allowed to cash out.

Violations of Michigan Gambling Laws

The MGCB determined that these operators violated multiple state laws, including:

  • The Lawful Internet Gaming Act – Only licensed casinos can legally offer online gambling in Michigan.
  • The Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act – Running an unlicensed gambling operation carries penalties of up to 10 years in prison, fines of up to $100,000, or both.
  • The Michigan Penal Code – Gambling based on chance, prize, and consideration is broadly prohibited unless specifically authorized.

Risks Posed by Illegal Gambling Sites

Henry Williams, executive director of the MGCB, warned that these offshore platforms pose serious risks to consumers. He noted that their withdrawal policies are unreliable, and they lack proper consumer protections.

“Our top priority is safeguarding Michigan residents by ensuring that all online gaming activities are conducted legally and safely”

The five operators have 14 days to comply with the order. Failure to do so could lead to further legal consequences.
