Law Enforcement Targets Illegal Gambling
Authorities confirmed the arrests of five suspects, ranging in age from 26 to 44, on various gambling-related charges. The individuals, whose initials were provided by law enforcement, include three Sarasota residents, a Port Charlotte resident, and a man from Addison, Illinois. A sixth suspect remains at large, with an active warrant issued for his arrest.

Nearly 60 Illegal Machines Seized
This latest crackdown follows a similar operation last month, where authorities raided multiple businesses in North and Central Florida, confiscating illegal gambling devices and issuing citations. However, the Sarasota County bust escalated to criminal enterprise charges under Florida’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
The arrested suspects face charges including maintaining an illegal gambling operation, money laundering, and possession of slot machines. While authorities seized dozens of gaming devices, they have not confirmed whether cash or additional assets were recovered.
The investigation, which began in April 2024, uncovered multiple illegal gambling establishments operating across Sarasota County. With warrants secured, law enforcement executed the raid, leading to the arrests. Authorities have pledged continued efforts to dismantle such operations and hold those responsible accountable.
