The Paul Skenes Rookie Debut Patch Autograph (RDPA) has set new records, becoming the most expensive Skenes card and the highest-selling RDPA ever. Within just two hours of bidding opening last week, the card had already surpassed previous benchmarks.
Record-Breaking Auction
Bidding for Skenes’ RDPA started strong, reaching $150,000 after 45 bids by 9 p.m. ET last Thursday. Just 40 minutes later, it climbed past $220,000. By Tuesday, the total had skyrocketed to $660,000, including the buyer’s premium, with 56 bids placed.
The previous record for a Skenes card was $123,220, set in September 2023 for a Bowman Draft Chrome Prospects Autographs Superfractor 1/1 PSA 7 at Goldin Auctions. The highest-selling RDPA before this was Masyn Winn’s, which sold for $75,000 in February on Fanatics Collect’s Buy Now marketplace.

A Coveted Collectible
The Rookie Debut Patch Autograph series, introduced in 2023 Topps Chrome Update, features exclusive one-of-a-kind patches worn by players only during their MLB debuts. Skenes’ RDPA appears in the 2024 Topps Chrome Update alongside cards for Jackson Holliday, Elly De La Cruz, Jackson Chourio, and Junior Caminero.
Currently listed in Fanatics Collect’s March Premier Auction, bidding for the Skenes card will run until March 20.
A Highly Traveled Card
This RDPA has been at the center of significant attention since an 11-year-old collector pulled its redemption on Christmas. After being produced by Topps in Texas, it was signed by Skenes, delivered to the young collector in California, graded by PSA, and displayed in New York and New Orleans during Super Bowl events. It is now believed to be housed in the Fanatics Collect vault near Portland, Oregon.
In the same auction, another major sports card is generating buzz—the 2023 National Treasures Victor Wembanyama Logoman 1/1. Bidding for the Wembanyama card began on Thursday and quickly reached $110,000 after 21 bids.
